Established in Double Bay in 1957 by Domenic Losurdo, the family-operated stores serviced a string of famous regulars throughout history, including Kerry Packer, John Laws, Lady Fairfax, Rene Rivkin, Dame Helen Blaxland, Lady Crichton Brown, Baroness Boyd, Sam Gazal and Harry M Miller – to name a few. Between the early 1980s and mid-2000s, LoSurdo’s stores expanded to Chatswood, North Sydney and Macquarie Park. Today as in the past, LoSurdo’s source direct from the very best growers, farmers and local providores. Their commitment to fresh is second-to-none, with LoSurdo’s stating, ‘What’s picked that day can be in the shop the same day’. LoSurdo’s is the next generation green grocer, headed by Domenic’s own son, Robert LoSurdo. Robert’s passion for fresh produce stems from a young age, and he has serviced the North Shore’s fresh food needs himself since the 1980s. Robert’s own philosophy is simple; ‘If it’s not good enough for me, it’s not good enough for my customers. So, only the very best will do.’ The LoSurdo’s family go on to say, ‘Robert draws on our history and heritage, a lifetime living and breathing fresh food and sourcing and buying only the very best local produce. Now, he is bringing this knowledge and expertise to Northbridge – a community who understands and appreciates top-quality service. He is a perfect fit.’ With LoSurdo’s quality, farm-fresh vegetable and fruit produce, the store will be a welcome addition to Northbridge Plaza’s quality range of food retailers.

Simon Johnson is an Australian culinary pioneer: the first to introduce a fromagerie; the first with chef’s cooking demonstrations; the first to import fresh truffles; the first to offer luxury hampers and gourmet branded ranges, and is responsible for creating a quality food culture in Australia.
