The two groups who worked on the draft Master Plan were:
A Technical Working Group researched key issues such as traffic, parking, environmental sustainability and urban design with the help of specialist consultants. The Group’s members were represented by Willoughby City Council, AMP Capital Shopping Centres and the Northbridge community.
A Reference Committee who guided the Technical Working Group on aspects such as community consultation and the findings of the specialist research. The Committee was independently chaired and represented a range of stakeholders including residents, retailers, local Councillors and AMP Capital Shopping Centres.
In early 2009, the Technical Working Group together with Willoughby City Council reached a decision not to proceed further with the redevelopment plans for the Centre. Many stakeholders have been involved in the development process, however, a mutually beneficial outcome could not be reached by all stakeholders. Although work will stop for now, the robust research and analysis undertaken to date is still able to be used as a guide in the future.
