CornWhen buying corn look for sweet corn with pale to bright-green husks, with no signs of yellowing. A little of the silk should be protruding from the top of the husk. Serve simply as corn on the cob, or try the kernels in salads, soups, fritters and salsas. Store in the crisper section of the fridge 2 - 3 days. |

BananasChoose bananas depending on when you plan to use them. Slighlty green bananas need a few days to ripen, and the yellow skinned ones with brown flecks are best eaten that day. Make sure when buying bananas you avoid ones with splits in the skin. Eat fresh, or try grilling, frying or placing on the BBQ wraped in foil with a sprinkle of brown sugar and a teaspoon of butter. Over ripe bananas are delicious in smoothies, cakes and puddings. Bananas are best stored at room temperature. |
